    Discovery Returns
It was such a pleasure watching the Discovery come back to Earth yesterday. There's something about knowing we can get off this planet that makes like on Earth just a bit more tolerable.

When I was a kid I signed up to go to the moon. The Hayden Planetarium in New York had a big glass object where you could put your name in to be part of the sweepstakes to be included on the first manned moon trip. I must say I expected we'd at least have a colony on the moon and a certain amount of commuting back and forth by now, having landing the first men there more than 35 years ago. I guess we got a bit distracted, spending all our money on wars instead.

    Celebrity Centre Gala
I went to the 37th Anniversary Gala celebration at Celebrity Centre last weekend. I was really moved by some of the speakers who, though not Scientologists, gave their personal experiences using the technology of L. Ron Hubbard to address issues in literacy, drug dependancy and criminality. I've been a Scientologist for many years, and I'm an active Scientology Volunteer Minister, and I know how much Mr. Hubbard's work helps people. I know it on a personal level and I've seen the results from using it to help others. But hearing this kind of feedback from others is always inspirational to me. Gets me looking at how I can do more.
